5 Items You Don’t Want To Forget at Home Before Heading to the Job Site

We’ve all been there. You are all ready to start working on the job when you realize you don’t have a single angle bracket on you. Looks like another trip to the hardware store in on the way!

Here are 7 things every contractor has left at home at one point or another. Maybe this list will help you remember next time you go out on a job!

1. Work Gloves

Not all jobs require heavy-duty work gloves, but many do. Having an extra pair in your truck or van will keep you from having to run out to the store at the last minute. You never know when you’ll need the protection, and you are going to want to protect your hands from potential damage that could come their way!

2. Drywall Tape

This roll of tape will help you cover any and all seams in between sheets of hung drywall. Small items like this are easy to misplace, especially something as innocuous as a roll of tape. Keep an extra roll handy and you’ll save yourself a headache down the line!

3. Angle Bracket

Another small item, the angle bracket is a small metal or plastic bracket meant to help hold up shelves or brace furniture. These little guys are easy to lose, and you may never know when you’re gonna need one if you’re working in a furnished home. Keep a spare angle bracket or two somewhere in your belongings just in case!

4. Hammer

Yes, it’s one of the most iconic and obvious tools. But that’s because it’s one of the most used. If you take your hammer out of your work bag to use at home, it’s quite easy to set it aside and forget to put it back! Even worse, maybe someone else in the house did just that! Keep an extra hammer around, or be very diligent in checking your inventory before heading out on a job. You’ll be glad you did.

5. Lunch

We all know how much it can cost to eat out for lunch every day, because we’ve all done it at some point in our lives. Bring a lunch from home and your wallet will thank you! Plus, homemade lunches are almost always healthier than what you’d get at a restaurant. Come on. Your wife’s cooking isn’t that bad!

So there you have it. 5 things we’ve all forgotten at some point, but hopefully now, you’ll think of us fondly and remember these things. Do you have any other items you find yourself forgetting time and time again? Share your thoughts with us below in the comments!
